Samsung Solstice A887 is a mid-range touchscreen phone from Samsung. This phone is exclusively available to AT&T. The Solstice is similar to the Samsung Highlight. It has the following dimensions:109 X 53 X 12.7 mm and weighs 94 grams.

The phone has a 3.0 inch TFT Touchscreen with a resolution of 240X400 pixels. It supports upto 256K colors. Below the screen, you will find 2 keys - Call and End. The touchscreen is also very responsive. The Solstice uses Samsung TouchWiz interface which gives the phone a modern look.

The Samsung Solstice A887 has a 2.0 megapixel camera. It supports images upto a resolution of 1600X1200 pixels. The quality of the images is decent but not that great. The camera also has a smile shot mode. It also supports video recording at two resolution 320X240 and 176X144.

The A887 has a music player that supports file formats like MP3. WMA. eAAC+ and is very touch friendly. The phone also has access to the AT&T Music store. The phone also has a video player which supports H.263/H.264/MPEG4 file formats. However, the phone is not loud enough but the headset sound quality is quite good. It also has radio support some games for your entertainment purpose.

The device has Bluetooth connectivity to connect to wireless headsets and transfer files. The inbuilt web browser is quite good and supports WAP 2.0/xHTML, HTML specifications. The Samsung Solstice has an internal memory of 189 MB which can be expanded up to 16 GB with a microSD card.

The Samsung Solstice A887 is pegged as a dedicated messaging device by Samsung. The QWERTY keyboard is quite responsive and typing long messages is very easy. AT&T supports instant messaging for AOL, MSN and Yahoo. You can also install the AT&T Social Net App which allows you to log onto Facebook, Twitter and Myspace simultaneously. The Samsung Solstice is also preloaded with the AT&T Navigator. The Navigator does a good job at tracking your location. The phone is very good at GPS reception.

The Samsung Solstice has a standard Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery. It has a standby time of upto 250 hours and talk time of upto 5 hours.

The Samsung Solstice is available for free on a 2 year contract deal and for $100 on a 1 year contract deal with AT&T .
